Reiki Session Preparation

Before your Reiki session

  • It is recommended that you do not consume alcohol/recreational drugs up to 24 hours before a session; prescribed medications are the only exception.

  • It is also recommended that you are in an environment where you can relax and will not be distracted at any point during the session.

  • You can sit comfortably or lie down for the session, whichever works best for you.

  • Make sure to wear loose and comfortable clothing, and to remove any jewelry that may become distracting.

  • You can listen to some ambient music during the session; not any popular songs that might prompt you to sing along.

  • You can also light some relaxing incense or a candle for your session.

During your Reiki session

  • Reiki energy works on a subtle level and provides profound results over time, with that being said, when receiving a Reiki healing one can experience a range of effects to no side effects.

  • When a client doesn’t experience any of the following ‘sensations’, it can be that the body decides what to balance and when. With Reiki, shifts can occur energetically at first but over time physical results develop.

  • The client can experience none, any, or all of the following effects during or after their Reiki healing session:

    • Feeling heat or coldness, Seeing colors or lights, Involuntary body movements (twitching or limb jerks).

    • Rumbling stomach, Falling asleep, Sleepiness, Disturbed sleep or sleep patterns.

    • Vivd or Lucid dreams, Mood swings (as your body moves into a healthier emotional state).

    • Feelings of pressure or moving energy in the body.

    • Feelings of levitation, Emotional responses/ purging, sneezing, excess sweating, and dizziness.

After Your Reiki Session

  • It is advised to not drive, handle, and/or operate any heavy machinery after or while receiving a Reiki healing, and is recommended that you are in a calm, safe, and relaxing environment in order to receive the full benefits of this healing treatment.

  • To help with grounding, it is also recommended to have a cold glass of water after your reiki session.

  • Those who are on prescribed medications, it is important to monitor your body and to see if your doctor notices any shifts in your current condition (specifically those taking insulin for diabetes).

  • It is also recommended that the client practice journaling to help process and integrate your reiki healing.
